    Abstract

Two different ways exists for evacuation of aerogel glazings: 1) evacuation after assembling by means of built-in evacuation valves or 2) evacuation during assembling in a vacuum chamber. Both methods are described as well as the evcuation theory for highly porous materials. Calculated evacuation times related to the two methods are shown and compared to observations.
