    Abstract

The objective of the present work has been to develop a computational design tool for calculation of wave loads on ships and implement it into a comprehensive program system. The program system, named I-ship, has been developed at the department and is used for conceptual design.Based on a survey of available theoretical methods for determining wave loads on a ship, three have been selected. The criteria areRobustness of the method in as wide a range of applications as possible.Reasonable computational time on a state-of-the art PC.Accuracy within engineering practive.Linear as well as non-linear predictions should be available.
