Abstract

The Herdsure®Cattle Health Improvement Service has been developed by the Veterinary Laboratories Agency (VLA), to facilitate the delivery of'proactive' herd health plans by veterinary practitioners on their clients' farms. It aims to provide a cost-effective easy-to-use modular testing and management system. It contains protocols for testing regimens and disease control advice for bovine viral diarrhoea (BVD), fasciolosis, Johne's disease, neosporosis, infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR) and leptospirosis in herds and is supported by a novel software management system (Herdsure®Management System, HMS) that manages timings and herd status.
