Abstract

The rapid transition to renewable energy systems necessitates a skilled workforce. The RES4CITY project1 addresses this by developing and implementing a micro-credential (MC) program focused on the green energy transition. This paper presents the RES4CITY framework, utilizing 44 MCs (2.5-3 ECTS each) within 8 micro-programs (10 MCs/program). Each MC features online modules, reading materials, and assessments, accessible via a dedicated MOOC platform. While comprehensive program evaluation is ongoing, initial feedback from participants in the Lyngby-Taarbæk municipality case study indicates increased awareness of sustainable heating solutions and potential career pathways within the district heating sector. This paper highlights the potential of MCs to bridge the skills gap and accelerate the transition towards renewable energy systems, with further impact assessment planned for future work.
