Abstract
Mange kemiske reaktioner kan medføre dannelse af giftige rødbrune nitrøse gasser. Synderen er ofte en uheldig kombination af salpetersyre og uvidenhed.
Abstract in english: Believing that nitric acid would be better than sulfuric acid for acidification of hog manure, a farmer acquired 23 t concentrated acid (67 %w/w) and stored it in a stainless-steel tank originally used for milk. A few days later, most of the acid were lost to ground due to corrosion. During clean-up, large amounts of nitrous fumes were released, and two vacuum truck were damaged beyond repair.
