Abstract
The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road is a massive initiative and sea route that links East Asia, Southeast Asia, Indian Subcontinent, Middle East, North Africa, and Europe. It creates considerable opportunities for enhancing transport connectivity, logistics development, and economic growth. Its development also faces various aspects of challenges. This chapter analyses the trends of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road with the method applying Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental and Legal (PESTEL) analysis. Implications for maritime trade and logistics will be discussed.
