Transient study for a fully compensated export cable in large offshore wind farms

Abstract

This paper presents the results of switching transient simulations using PSCAD on Walney Offshore Windfarm 1. The model of WOW1 was created based on as-build information from the main components like cables, reactors, filters and switchgear. Energizing operations of the export cable, reactor and filter in the onshore substation were simulated, in order to generate appropriate recommendations for configuration of the gas-insulated substation (GIS).
