Abstract
The following article describes the experimental facility for synchrotron radiation induced X-ray fluorescence analysis (SYXRF) at beamline L of the Hamburger synchrotron radiation laboratory (Hasylab) at the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY) in Hamburg. At the facility simple bulk analysis (SYXRF), high spatial resoluting measurements (μ-SYXRF), total reflection experiments (TR-SYXRF), surface analysis by means of grazing incidence (SY-GIXA), and analysis of crystallographic parameters by means of Kossel diffraction are possible. A great variety of excitation spectra can be chosen by absorbers, reflectors and a monochromator. The beam size is defined either by cross slits or by a focusing capillary. The measurements take place in air or helium atmosphere, and the fluorescence radiation is detected by either a Si(Li) or HPGe detector depending on the energy range of interest. The major advantages are an easy to handle control of the highly flexible setup, small beam sizes, and low detection limits.
