    Abstract

The occupational health service (OHS) in Denmark is only sparsely in-volved as adviser when technological changes take place in client enter-prises. In order to promote the OHS efforts in this area, the work of OHS consultants has been studied in four cases of technological change. Instead of the two-dimensional expert – process consultant role we suggest a sup-plementary third role, the ‘political, reflective navigator’. This role is sug-gested based on evidence from the cases and concepts from actor-network theory on technological development.
