The effect of diffusion on the current-sheet speed in a magnetically driven shock tube

    Abstract

    The lowering of the current-sheet speed in a magnetically driven shock tube is attributed to the diffusion effect of the current and not to the anchoring of a large fraction of the total current near the driving end.
