The delicate art of twisting 2D materials

Research output: Contribution to journalComment/debateResearchpeer-review

Abstract

Twisting of two-dimensional layers generates tunable moiré superlattices that profoundly change the electronic and photonic properties. The main challenge for exploring this vast phase space is the difficulty in reproducibly fabricating devices with consistent, precise twist angles and defect-free interfaces. Díez-Mérida et al. report a protocol for the fabrication of such devices with high yield.
