Abstract
A tutorial study of the Colpitts oscillator family defined as
all oscillators based on a nonlinear amplifier and a three-
terminal linear resonance circuit with one coil and two
capacitors. The original patents are investigated. The
eigenvalues of the linearized Jacobian for oscillators based
on single transistors or operational amplifiers are studied.
