The Anatomy of Soft Approaches

Strategy development, planning, and multicriteria are important concepts within organisations, which almost every day have to comply with the threats and opportunities of the surrounding environment and have to deal with them. This paper gives an introductory description to why, how and for what, organisations develop strategies, plan and can use multicriteria. On the methodological side focus is on soft Operational Research methodologies and multicriteria decision aid. The paper ends up with short presentations on situations in which the methodologies have been used in practice.
