The synthesis of 3-C-hydroxymethyl- and 3-deoxyisofagomine was presented. The reactions were performed under an inert atmosphere in preheated glass equipments. The results showed that the binding of 3-deoxy-compound was increased by introducing hydroxy group in isofagomine.
