Abstract
AI and power systems exhibit a strong relationship, with AI requiring power systems to get the necessary energy to operate, and power systems needing AI to improve control, operations and planning. We explore here the synergies between AI and power systems from 3 different perspectives, i.e., metrics to assess sustainability, scheduling to minimize environmental impact, and resilience. By doing, we provide an overview of the state of the art in monitoring and assessing the impact of AI and data centers on power system operations and related CO2 emissions.
