Abstract
Many wastewater treatment processes and technologies have been developed since the beginning of the20th century to meet increasingly stringent performance demands. Still the wastewater industry has beenfacing many new challenges such as increasing energy costs, presence of trace organics which has becomemore critically investigated, depletion of the resources, water conservation as well as more stringentregulations (Reardon et al. 2013).
