Study on Energy Saving Performance of Heat-Recovery-Ventilation System in Residential Buildings of Hot-Summer and Cold-Winter Areas in China in Summer

Abstract

With the increasing load of air conditioning in residential buildings in hot-summer and cold-winter ( HSCW) areas, it has become a very important and urgent issue to use new energy-saving technologies to reduce the energy consumption of residential buildings. Heat-recovery-ventilation system can meet this demand by lowering energy consumption via pre-heating or pre-cooling. To study the actual energy saving performance of the ventilation heat recovery system in HSCW areas in China, the actual energy saving efficiency of the ventilation heat recovery system is measured in a building to be tested in East China. The experiment reveals that the system can save 14. 5% of air-conditioning energy consumption in summer and 4. 96% of air-conditioning energy consumption during rainy seasons; no significant energy saving effect is observed in transition seasons. EnergyPlus was employed to simulate the energy saving efficiency of the ventilation heat recovery system under operating conditions, data of which is compared with the test data; the energy saving efficiency of the ventilation heat recovery system in summer is simulated as well.
