Abstract

A clear definition was given for synthetic BES diagnostics aimed at plasma fluctuation studies. A good qualitative and quantitative agreement was reached using a turbulence workflow coupled to synthetic BES diagnostics on ASDEX-Upgrade. Two different noise models were explored, showing the need for detailed noise modelling to correctly handle low photon count observation geometries.
