Abstract
Spontaneous emission in a number of two-dimentional photonic
crystals relative to a homogeneous dielectric is modelled using
the fermi Golden rule and the position-dependent photon density of
states. Futhermore, numerical results will be presented for the
rate of spontaneous emission in waveguides and microavities, where
the design is based on introducing a defect in a two-dimensional
photonic crystal.
