Abstract
Materials that exhibit creep under constant effective stress
typically also show rate dependent behavior. The creep
deformations and the rate sensitive behavior is very important
when engineering and geological problems with large time scales
are considered. When stress induced compaction (consolidation) is
retarded by slow drainage of excess pore pressure it is expected
that consolidation and creep occur simultaneously. A constitutive
model adressing the problems of rate sensitive behavior and
simultaneous consolidation and creep is presented.
