Abstract

Selecting the right controlled variables in a bioprocess is challenging since the objectives of the process (yields,
product or substrate concentration) are difficult to relate with a given actuator. We apply here process control tools that can be used to
assist in the selection of controlled variables to the case of the SHARON-Anammox process for autotrophic nitrogen removal.
