Abstract
CFM conducted a research project in 2010-2012 on the future of FM in the Nordic countries. The purpose was mainly to identify, what we should do research on in the coming years, but the purpose was also to contribute to the profession becoming qualified to take a more longsighted develop-ment perspective. Through five workshops with in total 50 participants and a questionnaire survey in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland we investigated trends in the FM sector and identified need for new knowledge and competences. We also investigated other studies of the future of FM, which had been conducted around the same time, for instance by IFMA and the Danish based multinational facility service provider ISS. In this chapter, I will primarily focus on the results from the workshop in Denmark and the results of the Nordic questionnaire survey from CFM’s project and compare our results with the results from ISS’s study. The latter include scenarios for the future global development of FM. Finally, I will present my personal proposal for possible scenarios FM with a focus on the Nordic countries.
