Abstract

Based on current research, Water resource recovery facilities (WRRF) can participate in the power system stability to provide frequency control services by turning the aerators ON or OFF based on grid frequency control reserves. Here we use the model of Kolding WWRF in Denmark for scenario simulation to assess the capacity of the WRRF to provide upwards reserves and reduce environmental impact participating in frequency replacement reserves at different climatic conditions. Furthermore, we identify sensitive parameters that need careful calibration when developing digital twins to enable effective dynamic control.
