Abstract

In part one of this report some experimental investigations on the dynamic properties of rubber mountings are described and discussed.

At first the mathematical model used to describe the dynamic properties of the mountings and the measuring system is explained. From this model a measuring method based on over-determination is proposed to ensure against falsification of the results and to raise the accuracy. Hereafter the test setup together with the registration procedure is described.

Then the results from 21 mountings are presented and discussed.

The second part of the report shows how the experimental results can be utilized to get a correct design of vibration isolation systems.

At first coupling of mountings is described and then the fundamentals of vibration isolation is presented by means of a system with one degree of freedom. Hereafter the problems of practice: systems with several degrees of freedom are handled.

Finally the problem of isolating a machinery foundation is used to describe the isolation procedure.
