Abstract
Rotavirus group A infection causes gastroenteritis in both humans and a variety of animal species. Both domestic
pet species such as cats and dogs, and commercial species such as pigs and cows can be affected. Zoonotic
transmission is a possibility and could lead to the introduction into human populations of novel rotavirus strains.
