    Abstract

The environmental crisis has confronted the two sides of industry with the fact that much of theirtraditional relation is based on the unproblematic exploitation of natural resources. This articlegives a general overview of the way in which industrial relations have since been affected by thegrowing concern for the environment throughout Europe on the one hand, and have affected environmental problem solving afpproaches on the other hand. A description is given of the differentiation in concepts, actors, strategies and levels of involvement which have an impact in this respect. Finally, some challenges, promising development and a missing initiative is pointed out.
