Abstract

The HNCO oxidation chemistry has been re-examined experimentally and through chemical kinetic modeling. Flow reactor experiments were performed at atmospheric pressure using HNCO/O2/H2O mixtures, highly diluted in N. The temperature was varied in the range of 900 to 1600 K, and the effect of adding NO and CO was investigated. The reaction mechanism was based on the review of nitrogen chemistry by Glarborg et al. (2018), updating the amine subset based on more recent work. In the absence of oxygen, HNCO consumption was slow, with HNCO + HO NH + CO being the main reaction pathway.
