Rate-Adaptive Polar-Coded Constellation Shaping for Flexible Optical Networks

Abstract

We propose a many-to-one constellation shaping method for flexible-rate implicitly punctured polar-coded QAM. The simulation results show 1.5 dB of performance improvement and 80 km to 320 km increase in transmission distance, over the conventionally punctured polar codes.
