Abstract

Heterogeneous networks with a wide distribution of the quality of transmission (QoT) per light path require transmission techniques which can adapt their net data rate and thus can take full advantage of the available QoT. This contribution addresses this problem by proposing a coded modulation method supporting arbitrary net data rate, while also achieving a high spectral efficiency by employing geometric constellation shaping.
