Raman Spectroscopy evidence of 1:1:1 complex formation during dissolution of WO3 : K2SO4 in a melt of K2S2O7

Abstract

The dissolution reaction of solid WO3 into a melt consisting of a 1:1 molar mixture of K2S2O7 and K2SO4 was studied by Raman spectroscopy. It was found that a new compound was formed, dimeric K8[(WO2)2(m-SO4)2(SO4)4]. The assigned Raman spectrum is given.
