Quantum mechanical operator equivalents and magnetic anisotropy of the heavy rare earth metals

    Abstract

    A tensor operator formalism that in a convenient way describee the interactions of magnetic systems is treated. Further a creation operator and annihilation operator formalism describing the excited states of magnetic systems is introduced. On this background temperature laws of the magnetic anisotropy of tha heavy rare earth metals are calculated. Further Is the temperature dependence of the spin wave spectrum and thereby the temperature dependence of the spin wave energy gap of the heavy rare earth metals calculated.
