    Abstract

In the BIO4SELF project, the ambition is to demonstrate the use of bio-based self-reinforced PLA composites in industrial applications. This paper covers the processing of PLA multifilament and PLA fabrics into composite material. One of the challenges is to set the manufacturing parameters such as temperature and time. Optimal processing conditions should allow the PLA filament forming the matrix to melt, while maintaining the properties of the reinforcement PLA filament. Unidirectional fibres composite were manufactured at different temperature. The properties of the composite were analyzed with differential scanning calorimetry, mechanical testing and microstructure observations.
