    Abstract

The objectives of the paper are to expose an analytical procedure and an information model for increasing the production control and increasing the utilisation of manpower in combined order- and batch producing companies. We expect that the missing functionality in the manufacturing information systems causes a low utilisation of manpower in the order initiated production. A case-study showed a waste of manpower of between 20 and 30 per cent in the assembly function. Using the activity chain-model analysis the problems were revealed and the waste of manpower reduced to less than half. Finally we describe an information model and a set of functions used to model the initial problems in a combined order- and batch production.
