Abstract
This short paper discusses typical engineering tasks and problem
solving methods, based on a field study of engineering tasks at a
Danish engineering firm. The field study has identified ten
classes of design tasks and in this paper these classes are
related to problem solving methods. The described work is part of
a project that aims at establishing a coherent framework for
future development of integrated design tools.
