Abstract

Power system model validation is essential in maintaining the reliability and security of the power system. Validation confirms the accuracy of the models that underpin simulations that aid operational and planning decision-making. As the famous quotation from Rear Admiral Grace M. Hopper goes, “One accurate measurement is worth a thousand expert opinions.”
The process by which models are validated is generally a “top-down” process that generally uses the following hierarchy: system level, connection level, and device level.
