Abstract
The title compound, K8[{WO2(SO4)2}2(μ-SO4)2], precipitated from a melt of tungsten trioxide and potassium sulfate in potassium disulfate. The W(VI) coordination sphere in the independent K4[WO2(SO4)3] moiety is completed by inversion symmetry, resulting in a dimer with two bridging sulfato ligands and a unit cell with two dimeric units.
