    Abstract

The paper adresses principles for the application of geographical information systems (GIS) as a tool in the planning of transport corridors. Specifically, the paper describes the COPE (corridor planning and evaluation) model that has been developed within the EU 4th FP Strategic Transport projects TEN-ASSESS and CODE-TEN. The high speed rail project Rødby-Ringsted is used as a case for the demonstration of the methodology.
