t is shown that a closed polygon with an odd number of vertices is the median of exactly one piecewise planar cylinder and one piecewise planar Möbius band, intersecting each other orthogonally. A closed polygon with an even number of vertices is in the generic case neither the median of a piecewise planar cylinder nor the median of a piecewise planar Möbius band. In special cases it is however the median of either a one-parameter family of piecewise planar cylinders or of a one-parameter family of piecewise planar Möbius bands.
