Abstract
The aerodynamics of three modern bridge decks are compared to the
aerodynamics of a 16:1 flat plate. The comparisons are made on the
basis of the analytical evaluation of the performance of each
cross-section to the buffeting action of the wind. In general, the
closed-box girders studied in this paper showed buffeting
responses similar to a flat plate with the exception of the
multi-box girder which performed much better aerodynamically.
