Abstract
This paper addresses the problem of determining whether a refrigeration plant has
the possibility of delivering a better performance of the operation. The controllers are wellknown
but detailed knowledge about the underlying dynamics of the refrigeration plant is not
available. Thus, the question is if it is possible to achieve a better performance by changing the
controller parameter. An approach to active system monitoring, based on active fault diagnosis
techniques, is employed in order to evaluate changes in the system performance under operation.
