Abstract
In this paper we studied the performance of an STOLAS project based node switching
an FSK/IM modulated signal. A simulation model for 10Gbit/s IM modulated payload
FSK labelled at 155Mbit/s, of an optical label switching node, has been developed. The
performance of a single node, the effect of the crosstalk between channels and the
impact of the extinction ratio value of the IM signal on the overall performance are
analyzed. Also the main limitations to the efficiency of the switching are described. The
scalability of a network using this system model is studied from the viewpoint of the
cascadable number of nodes.
