    Abstract

In waste-to-energy plants nickel welding is often used to protect the waterwalls and superheaters from corrosion. Corrosion is caused by an aggressive atmosphere generated by the incineration of municipal waste. These corrosion attacks are often found to attack the welds, where the beads overlap each other.
