Abstract
Three different design concepts for transparent, dispersion
compensated, optical WDM transmission links are optimised
numerically and experimentally for 10 Gbit/s data rate per
channel. It is shown that robust transparent domains of 1,500 km
in diameter can be realised using simple design rutes.
