Abstract
We demonstrated the wavelength conversion for a 53.5‐Gb/s RZ‐DPSK signal with 1‐dB parametric gain and phase preserved amplitude regeneration. The parametric wavelength conversion is based on four‐wave mixing in a highly nonlinear fiber with a pulse pump. The wavelength converted and regenerated signal shows improved optical signal‐to‐noise ratio and bit‐error‐rate (BER) performances compared to the degraded signal.
