Novel 2×2 multiwavelength optical cross connects based on optical add/drop multiplexers

    Abstract

    A novel architecture of 2×2 multiwavelength optical cross connects based on optical add/drop multiplexers and optical switches is described. The structure is strictly nonblocking with a high degree of modularity. Its basic performance is experimentally demonstrated.
