    Abstract

The relationship between indoor air environments and health is, however, a truly interdisciplinary area involving numerous disciplines. Scientific work is primarily "within disciplinary", often resulting in conclusions that would not stand in an interdisciplinary context. Results are mostly interpreted within a certain discipline and presented as "truths". So, many different "truths" are at the same time acknowledged within differenct disciplines - dealing with the same problem! In order to try to overcome such obvious problems, and to take a step towards a better understanding of where we stand today, a number of interdisciplinary scientific groups have been created within the Nordic countries with the aim at reviewing the scientific literature within specific areas, and creating an interdisciplinary consensus on the present state of the art. Results from four so-called NORD-groups (NORDVOC, NORDPET, NORDDAMP, NORDVENT) on VOC/health, pets/allergy, dampness/health and ventilation/health are presented.
