Abstract
We derive the dynamic equations governing the
cross-coupled quadrature oscillator leading to an expression
for the trade-off between signal quadrature and close-in
phase noise. The theory shows that nonlinearity in the
coupling transconductance results in AM-PM noise close to
the carrier, which increases with the coupling strength. The
results are compared with SPECTRE RF simulations.
