Abstract
The pdf's of atmosperic turbulence have somewhat wider tails than
a Gaussian, especially regarding accelerations, whereas velocities
are close to Gaussian. This behaviour has been investigated using
data from a large WEB-database in order to quantify the amount of
non-gaussianity. Models for non-Gaussian turbulence has been
developed, by which artificial turbulence can be generated with
specific distributions, spectra and cross-correlations. The
artificial time series will then be used in load models and the
resulting loads in the Gaussian and the non-Gaussian cases will be
compared.
