Abstract
Consumer nickel sensitization and dermatitis is caused by prolonged or repeated skin exposure to items that release nickel, for example jewellery, belts, buttons, watches, and mobile phones (1–3). We recently described a patient in whom primary nickel contact sensitization and dermatitis developed following the use of an Apple laptop computer (4). To estimate nickel release from Apple
laptop computers, we investigated a random sample of 20 devices.
