Abstract

This paper presents the development, characterization, and evaluation of polymer optical fibers (POFs) for neuromodulation and neural recordings in neuroscience. Specifically, the POFs enable optimized illumination patterns for optogenetics, brain temperature monitoring, and bidirectional infrared neural stimulation (INS). Leveraging the exceptional flexibility of polymer materials, multifunctional POFs offer a promising avenue for advancingthe comprehensive understanding of neural connectivity and function.
